Welcome Back: A Message to Lapsed Catholics
Dear Friend,
We’re grateful that you’re here. Whether you’ve been away from the Catholic Church for a short time or many years, please know this: you are loved by God, and the Church is always ready to welcome you back. Whatever your story, you have not been forgotten. We are here for you.
Life can lead us down many paths—some joyful, some difficult, and some that pull us away from faith. Maybe you stepped back because of busyness, personal struggles, doubts, or painful experiences. Whatever the reason, God’s love for you has never changed, and the Church remains your spiritual home.
The Church is meant to be a place of healing, renewal, and belonging. It is a community where we grow closer to God and to one another. If you feel a longing for peace, purpose, or a deeper relationship with God, consider this a gentle invitation from Him to return.
A simple way to begin is by coming to Mass. The Mass is the heart of our worship and a powerful encounter with God’s presence. Whether you sit quietly, listen, or participate fully, you are welcome—just as you are. You don’t need to have everything figured out.
If it has been a long time since your last Confession, or if you’re unsure how to take the next step, please don’t worry. Our priest and parish team are here to walk with you, answer your questions, and support you. You can schedule a Confession in the Confessional, or in the privacy of an office visit with Father Jeff. No question is too small, and no concern is too heavy. You don’t have to navigate this alone.
Returning to the Church isn’t about the past. It’s about opening your heart to God’s mercy today and rediscovering the joy of the sacraments, the strength of community, and the peace that comes from living in God’s grace.
If you feel ready—or even if you’re still unsure—we invite you to reach out. Call us, email us, or stop by the parish. We would be honored to listen, to help, and to welcome you.
Thank you for reading this message. We believe you’re here for a reason. Come with your questions, your hopes, and your doubts. There is a place for you at St. Francis Xavier, and we look forward to welcoming you home.
In Christ,
St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church
